HOUSTON – Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) today announced the appointment of Timothy P. Kingsmill to the newly created position of vice president of supply development for Duke Energy Gas Transmission.

Kingsmill will be responsible for pursuing pipeline projects related to new supply additions and developing or acquiring additional natural gas storage facilities in the supply area. He will be based in Houston and will report to Tom O’Connor, senior vice president of marketing, Duke Energy Gas Transmission.

"Tim’s impressive background in natural gas supply and marketing will further enable Duke Energy Gas Transmission to seek out strategic business opportunities related to the growth of natural gas supplies in North America," O’Connor said. "His role in acquiring and developing additional supply delivery facilities will be pivotal in meeting the needs of new markets attached to the Duke Energy Gas Transmission system."

Most recently, Kingsmill worked as an independent consultant to Reliant Energy and Duke Energy. Previously, he worked as vice president of marketing and transportation and as vice president of marketing and supply development for Midcon Texas Pipeline Corp. He began his career in 1979 with Consolidated Natural Gas Corp. where he held various positions of increasing responsibility, including general manager of natural gas supply and producer services, until 1996.

Kingsmill, a native of New Orleans, received a bachelor of science degree in general business management from Louisiana State University. He also completed Rice University’s Management Program.
