MORRO BAY -- Duke Energy’s Morro Bay Power Plant made the following contributions totaling $13,500 for first quarter 2000:

"We are pleased that our power plant’s on-going operations can provide financial support to these deserving organizations," said Steve Goschke, Morro Bay Power Plant manager. "In most cases these contributions represent our second and sometimes third annual contributions and are indicative of our efforts to develop long term partnerships with these organizations, and when possible, involve our employees in their efforts."

The Morro Bay Power Plant has contributed approximately $50,000 annually to Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo organizations annually since it purchased the power plant in 1998. In addition, in 1999, employees at the plant worked with the Natural History Museum in Morro Bay to secure a one-time grant of $50,000 for the museum’s educational outreach efforts.

Duke Energy's California operations contributions program, which involves plants and employees in the Moss Landing, Morro Bay, Oakland and Chula Vista communities, is managed by plant-based employee teams that meet quarterly to make contributions decisions. These meetings take place the first week of March, June, September and December. All requests for funds must be submitted in writing.

Duke Energy’s California operations primarily contribute to non-profit "501c3" organizations based in the communities where our plants operate. All grant requests must fall within the following focus areas:
