CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- DukeSolutions, a Duke Energy subsidiary specializing in integrated energy services for large end-use customers, has announced a restructuring of its end-user electricity and natural gas services to better serve the needs of business-to-business end-user customers.

DukeSolutions will expand its energy supply management services, acting as an aggregator of energy demands with a "supplier neutral" focus. In addition, DukeSolutions will continue to actively evaluate opportunities to derive value from its existing end-user energy supply business, which focuses on end-user supply origination.

"We believe it’s in the best interest of our customers and DukeSolutions to focus our market knowledge, analytic systems and expertise to provide seamless energy supply management services in all domestic markets without regard to the source of supply," said Charles Watkins, DukeSolutions president. "Our energy supply management focus will be on reducing customer costs, improving reliability and managing customers’ energy risks as a customer procurement advocate. Until the market has more standardized national or regional protocols, we must focus on what’s in the best interest of our customers. Serving as a customer procurement advocate means we must stay supplier neutral seeking the best energy value regardless of the source." Watkins said.

It is increasingly apparent that a national deregulated retail energy market with more standardized protocols is years down the road. DukeSolutions recognizes the reality that no single end-user electric or natural gas supplier can be service and price competitive in every market. To maintain the level of service and competitive energy pricing customers have come to expect and deserve, DukeSolutions must continually develop optimum solutions with no bias toward energy supplier preference. This ensures that customers receive maximum benefit from DukeSolutions as their energy services provider, providing ongoing customer value.
