FORMER TEXAS EASTERN GAS UNIT HEAD DIES

HOUSTON - - George Ewing, former vice president and gas group executive for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation, died Monday, May 24. He is survived by his wife Doris.

Ewing, a native of San Antonio, joined Texas Eastern in 1948 in the Little Rock, Ark., engineering department. He served as vice president and chief engineer from 1965 to 1974. Ewing then became vice president of supplemental fuels until 1976 when he was named vice president of gas supply. In 1979, he was named vice president and gas group executive, a position he held until his retirement in 1985.

Ewing received a degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M in 1948.
