Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline Hosts Successful Pipeline Contractors Fairs

Augusta - Officials from Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline, L.L.C. (Maritimes) announced that more than 800 Maine contractors and vendors attended the Maine Pipeline Contractors Fairs held Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Bangor Civic Center and Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the Augusta Civic Center. Maritimes is preparing for construction of Phase II of the natural gas pipeline, 200 miles of 24-inch and 30-inch diameter pipeline extending from Baileyville, Maine to Westbrook, Maine. Initial construction began in late February with the horizontal directional drilling of the Androscoggin River.

Maritimes hosted the Contractors Fairs in conjunction with its general contractors, Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Co., H.C. Price Company and Latex Construction Company, to provide Maine businesses with information on Phase II construction opportunities. Maine Employment Services participated in the Contractors Fairs as well.

"We expect full construction to begin this spring and we want Maine businesses to be aware of the services and products that will be required," said Maritimes Project Director Edward D. Gonzales. "We currently utilize more than 100 Maine-based companies and these Contractors Fairs provide further opportunity for Maine businesses."

Maine contractors and vendors interested in providing services and products to the project should contact Ed Gonzales at Maritimes’ Manchester, Maine office at (207) 622-0073 or toll free at 1-888-876-4080.
