RICHARD KRUSE NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF TEXAS EASTERN AND ALGONQUIN

HOUSTON - - Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation and Algonquin Gas Transmission Company have named Richard J. Kruse senior vice president for projects and industry initiatives, effective Jan. 1.

Kruse, previously vice president and general solicitor for Duke Energy, will report to Robert B. Evans, president of Texas Eastern and Algonquin. Kruse will be responsible for managing the company’s investment in the Alliance Pipeline, new projects and joint venture projects, as well as the company’s involvement in the Gas Industry Standards Board and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America. He will also manage the development strategy for Duke Energy’s pipeline group on major regulatory actions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and he will direct the pipeline group’s position on the state unbundling initiatives in each of the states served by the company’s pipelines.

He had been associate general counsel of PanEnergy Corp since February 1995. PanEnergy merged with Duke Power Company in 1997, creating Duke Energy. He joined the company in 1977 and was appointed assistant general counsel in 1988. Kruse became deputy general counsel, regulatory/operations, in 1990 with responsibility for Texas Eastern and Algonquin. In 1992, he was named vice president and general counsel for Texas Eastern.

He received a bachelor of science degree in economics from Texas Tech University in 1974 and graduated with a law degree from the University of Houston in 1977.

Kruse is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the Federal Energy Bar Association and past president of the Houston Chapter of the Federal Energy Bar Association.
