HOUSTON - Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. and its parent company, Duke Energy, are giving a $5,000 emergency disaster recovery donation to the Beebe, Ark., Fire Department, which will use this donation toward replacing equipment after a furious tornado ripped through the town of 6,000 recently.

Several employees of the Texas Eastern pipeline, which runs through the community, were affected by the twister, which destroyed the middle and high schools along with hundreds of homes. Local Texas Eastern employees have donated their own funds toward food for the families who are homeless at this time.

"The fire department lost both fire trucks, lost its generator and lost its building," said Bob Russell, Arkansas area superintendent for Texas Eastern. "The city of Beebe has been a gas customer of ours for more than 30 years. We know these people, and we feel compassion toward those in our community who are suffering."
