DAN HENNIG ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT; JIM PRUETT NAMED VICE PRESIDENT

HOUSTON - Dan Hennig, vice president of human resources and administration for Duke Energy’s Houston office, has announced his plans to retire at the end of July.

Jim Pruett, director of employee relations, has been named vice president of human resources for pipeline transmission, effective August 1.

Hennig has been with the company since 1974, when he joined Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company as manager of personnel services in Kansas City, Mo. He was named director of employee relations for Trunkline Gas Company in 1978 and served in that position for both Panhandle Eastern and Trunkline from 1981 to 1989. He was elected a corporate vice president in July 1989.

Hennig has been active in the Southern Gas Association and the Society for Human Resource Management and serves on the boards of Child Advocates, Inc., the HoustonDrug Free Initiative and the YMCA Camp Board.

Pruett joined the company in 1982 as a labor relations representative for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company in Kansas City. He became manager of labor relations in 1984 and was named manager of employee relations for Panhandle Eastern and Trunkline in 1985. He moved to Houston in 1988 and became director of field employee relations in 1990. He was named director of employee and labor relations in 1997.

Before joining the company he was a labor relations representative for Chrysler Corporation in Detroit from 1973 to 1975 and was personnel manager for Colt Industries in Kansas City from 1975 to 1982.

Pruett is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the American Society for Training and Development.

He received a bachelor of business administration degree from William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., in 1971 and a master of business administration degree from the University of Missouri in 1972. He also received a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations from Michigan State University in 1973.
