Duke Engineering & Services To Acquire Environmental Consulting Firm

Charlotte, NC (May 22, 1998) -- Duke Engineering & Services, Inc. (DE&S) today announced the company has signed a letter of intent to acquire Cascades Environmental Services Inc. (CES), an environmental consulting firm specializing in hydropower and water resources and located in Bellingham, Wash. Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition would expand the availability of DE&S’ environmental and regulatory services in the Pacific Northwest. DE&S’ Hydropower and Water Resources business unit currently employs more than 100 engineers, environmental scientists and regulatory specialists in Portland, Maine; Sacramento, Calif; Bothell, Wash.; and Charlotte, N.C.
