DUKE ENERGY AWARDS THE WOODLANDS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE W.G. MAGUIRE SCHOLARSHIP

HOUSTON —Allison Keyser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Richard Keyser, has received one of Duke Energy’s $10,000 W.G. Maguire Educational Scholarships. Keyser recently graduated from The Woodlands High School and plans to attend Texas Christian University this fall. Her major course of study will be vocal performance and pre-medicine.

Keyser was named a Deans’ Scholar. She is the granddaughter of Marilyn Ewoldt and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Keyser, all of Paullina, Iowa.

The scholarship program was established in 1963 by the late W.G. Maguire, one of the founders of Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company, as well as chairman and chief executive officer for more than 20 years. Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line is a predecessor company of Duke Energy.

An independent committee of judges selects the scholarship recipients based on academic excellence, character, personality evaluations by school faculty and performance on the Scholastic Aptitude Test.
