HOUSTON, -- Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Company (TEPPCO), general partner of TEPPCO Partners, L.P., (NYSE:TPP) today announced the election of Milton Carroll and Ruth G. Shaw to TEPPCO’s board of directors. They succeed George L. Mazanec, who resigned from the board effective November 21 and Leander W. Jennings, who resigned from the board effective December 1.

Carroll, 48, is president, chief executive officer and founder of Instrument Products, Inc., a Houston-based manufacturer of oil field equipment and other high technology products. Prior to founding Instrument Products, he held various positions with Schlumberger Well Services.

Carroll also serves as a director of Houston Industries, Inc., Seagull Energy Corp., and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. He is active in community affairs, serving as a director of the Houston Endowment Foundation and the Greater Houston Partnership. He is a past chairman of the Board of Regents of Texas Southern University, a past port commissioner of the Port of Houston Authority, and a former director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and PanEnergy Corp.

Carroll received a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology from Texas Southern University in 1973.

Shaw, 49, is executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Duke Energy Corp in Charlotte, N.C. In this position, she is responsible for human resources, public affairs, strategic planning, energy policy strategy, corporate environmental health and safety, information technology and shared services. She also is president of the Duke Energy Foundation, which makes charitable contributions to the communities in which Duke operates. Shaw joined Duke Power Company in 1992 as vice president of corporate communications and later was senior vice president of corporate resources. She was named to her current position following the merger of Duke Power Company and PanEnergy Corp in 1997.

Before joining Duke, Shaw was president of Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte and president of El Centro College in Dallas.

Shaw serves on the board of directors of First Union Corp. and Apple South, Inc. She also is active in the community, serving as a board member for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition, Shaw is a member of the board of visitors at Davidson College. She also was chairman of the board of the United Way in Charlotte in 1992.

Shaw received a bachelor of arts degree and a master of arts degree in English from East Carolina University and a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

"They both have extensive experience in a variety of areas in the energy industry and their knowledge will definitely be an asset to TEPPCO."

Thacker commended Mazanec for his service to TEPPCO, and he expressed his sorrow at the December 24 death of Mr. Jennings. Mazanec and Jennings had served on TEPPCO’s board since 1990.

TEPPCO is the general partner of TEPPCO Partners, L.P., which is a publicly owned master limited partnership. TE Products Pipeline Company, Limited Partnership, the operating partnership, is one of the largest common carrier pipelines of refined petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gases in the United States.
