Cinergy Solutions & City Of Toronto Kick Off A New Initiative As Part Of The City’s On-Going Energy Retrofit Program Initiative to save city over $1.3 million Cdn ($1.1 million USD) annually on
energy costs. This initiative is a cross-divisional effort involving the Energy and Waste Management Office in Facilities and Real Estate, and Parks, Forestry and Recreation. The arena retrofits project is part of the Energy Retrofit Program that was approved by Toronto City Council in 2004. The retrofit program was created by the City to reduce building operating costs and deliver environmental benefits. As part of the arena retrofits project, Cinergy Solutions will implement facility improvements at over 100 City owned arenas and recreation complexes that include 126 indoor and outdoor ice pads. The improvements will include building automation systems, lighting retrofits; heat recovery systems; heating ventilation and air conditioning upgrades; building air sealing; low emissivity ceilings; brine header insulation; power factor correction equipment; and solar water heating systems. “The City of Toronto is continually striving to improve energy efficiency. We are very impressed with the City’s dedication to the environment – their values and leadership reflect our own commitment to sustainability and an energy efficient economy,” said Steve Harkness, President of Cinergy Solutions.
