CW DMAG Update - August 16, 2007 Low Inflow Protocol (LIP) Drought Indicators
Per the requirements of Stage 1 and beyond of the Catawba-Wateree Low Inflow Protocol (LIP), the following is a bi-weekly update of the drought triggers as of August 16, 2007:
Storage Index (SI): 57.29%
Target Storage Index = 75.00%
Ratio = 76.39% (Supports Stage 1)
July 30, 2007 = 85.81% (Stage 1)
Note: 75% is the threshold for Stage 2 for Storage.
Streamflow Indicator (six-month average versus historical six-month average):
Ratio = 65.5% (Supports Stage 1)
July 30, 2007 = 66.6% (Stage 1)
Note: 65% is the threshold for Stage 2 for Streamflow.
US Drought Monitor (three-month average)
Three-month Numeric Average = +2.00 (Supports Stage 2)
July 30, 2007 = +1.67 (Stage 1)
USGS Langtree current reading = 20.52 ft (Stage 0) 18.21 is the Stage 0-Watch Level
USGS Linville current reading = 2.48 ft (Stage 2) 2.04 is the Stage 0-Watch Level
NCDWR Glen Alpine reading = 8.56 (Stage 1) 7.69 is the Stage 0-Watch Level

Please note that stage declarations do not occur at the bi-weekly update. Official stage declarations are only based on end-of-month checks. However, as can be seen above, without substantial rains in the next two weeks, we will be in a Stage 2 LIP condition at the first of September.
