Conditions are gradually improving along the Upper Catawba River Basin. Lake James and Lake Rhodhiss have stopped spilling, and one gate at Oxford Hydro remains partially open. Under current conditions, Duke Energy will close the open Oxford gate late this afternoon. Lookout Shoals will continue to spill and remain over 100 feet overnight. As we continue to move water through the system, Lookout Shoals Lake is expected to decline back toward the normal operating level over the next several days. We continue to closely monitor conditions and operate the system to reduce impacts. Updated lake levels are available any time at www.duke-energy.com/lakes/levels.asp and by calling 800-829-5253. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change.
