SummitACTIVELast Update: 11/20/2009 8:50:12 AM Duke Energy had previously announced plans to manage a drawdown of Lake Summit lowering the lake level this fall and early winter. The plan had been to target a drawdown that would have the lake level in the range of 85 to 80 (15 to 20 feet below full pond) with a 20 foot drawdown being preferable. Please note that Duke Energy has only one unit at Tuxedo available to support this drawdown plan and with rainfall events in October and November Duke has not been able to manage the lake level lower as planned in the desired timeframe. Duke Energy will continue to work on drawing the lake down and will extend to January 31, 2010 the planned drawdown time period (at which point the lake will be allowed to fill to its normal operating level). Duke Energy has only one unit available to run at Tuxedo. Please note that Duke Energy does not guarantee reaching any particular lake level nor can we guarantee that there will not be any lake level variability with increased river inflows or operability issues. Homeowners should visit the Duke Energy Web site routinely for changes in lake level that could impact them. Duke Energy does not guarantee lake levels through this period. ******************************************************** ACTIVE Last Update: 11/12/2009 10:13:49 AM Duke Energy expects that Lake Summit will continue to spill over 100 (full pond) but under current conditions it should not climb above 101. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change. ******************************************************** To see the last 5 day history of messages, click here. |
