Lookout Shoals LakeACTIVELast Update: 5/23/2013 7:55:44 PM Due to heavy rainfall upstream, Duke Energy partially opened a gate at Oxford Hydro Station two feet around 4 p.m. today. This will help facilitate moving water downstream. Lookout Shoals Lake is at 96.8 and we are running the two available hydro units at Lookout Shoals Hydro. Upstream, Lake Rhodhiss is spilling at 101.3 feet and the lake level is now slowly falling. Lookout Shoals Lake will slowly rise but we do not expect the level to exceed 100 feet. We continue to closely monitor conditions and operate the hydro system to reduce impacts. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change.
