The Upper Catawba River Basin is experiencing significant runoff from the recent rainfall and showers are in the forecast for later today. Lake James is spilling, but under current conditions and forecasts, we do not expect it to exceed 102 feet. Lake Rhodhiss is spilling, but under current conditions and forecasts, we do not expect it to exceed 103 feet. Levels at Lake Hickory are increasing, and a gate will be partially opened at Oxford Dam. Lookout Shoals Lake is not expected to exceed 102.5 ft. We continue to closely monitor conditions and operate the system to reduce impacts. Please stay alert to changing conditions, as additional rainfall could lead to higher lake levels. Updated lake levels are available any time at http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes/levels.asp and by calling 800-829-5253. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change.
