Oxford Hydro Station has a gate partially opened at 3-feet which will be closed down to a 1-foot opening late this afternoon. Lookout Shoals Lake is spilling at 100.4 and will decline overnight below 100. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change. Updated lake levels are available any time at http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes or by calling 800-829-5253 and pressing 1. Catawba County residents who live around Lookout Shoals should contact Catawba County Emergency Management to update their contact information using the Community Alert System (CAS) web page, http://www.catawbacountync.gov/alert , or by calling 828-465-8230 during regular business hours.

The Upper Catawba River Basin is seeing significant stream flows from the latest storm event. At this time, Lakes James, Rhodhiss and Lookout Shoals are not expected to spill. The National Weather Service in Greenville has issued a flash flood warning for the Piedmont, with 3 to 6 inches of potential rain. Oxford Hydro Station is currently running one unit and the actual runoff amounts will dictate if and when the Oxford gate will be raised. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precaution continues to manage significant stream inflows.
