Accelerated Main Replacement Program (AMRP)

Duke Energy is continually working to improve service to our gas customers.  You may notice more construction crews working on natural gas lines in many communities throughout our service territory. This is the result of our natural gas Accelerated Main Replacement Program (AMRP), approved by The Kentucky Public Service Commission  in 2001. The goal of the program is to replace all 12" and smaller cast iron and bare steel gas mains over the next 10 years.

New technologies have improved the reliability of gas mains through new protective coatings and plastics.  Employing this technology in conjunction with the AMRP will enable Duke Energy to continue to provide reliable, efficient and safe  gas service. Equally important, the program also enables us to keep future operations and maintenance expenses to the lowest reasonable level.
