InvestorDirect Choice Plan
The InvestorDirect Choice
Plan provides a simple and convenient way to purchase
common stock directly through the company, without incurring brokerage fees.
Purchases may be made weekly. Bank drafts for monthly purchases, as well as
a safekeeping option for depositing certificates into the plan, are available.
The plan also provides for full reinvestment, direct deposit or cash payment
of dividends.
Financial Publications
Duke Energy will furnish to any shareholder, without charge, printed copies
of the 2003 Summary Annual Report and SEC Form 10-K. Those and other financial
publications can also be found on our Web site.
Electronic Delivery
With a shareholder's consent, we can stop mailing paper copies of financial
information and proxy statements. You can go to www.icsdelivery.com/duk to
enroll in electronic delivery. You will need to provide your Social Security
number or Tax I.D. number, your e-mail address, and a PIN number of your choice
for electronic voting.
Duplicate Mailings
If your shares are registered in different accounts, you may receive duplicate
mailings of annual reports, proxy statements and other shareholder information.
Call Investor Relations for instructions on eliminating duplications or combining
your accounts.
Transfer Agent and Registrar
Duke Energy maintains shareholder records and acts as transfer agent and registrar
for the company's common and preferred stock issues.
Dividend Payment
Duke Energy has paid quarterly cash dividends
on its common stock for 77 consecutive years. Dividends on common and preferred
stock are expected to be paid, subject to declaration by the Board of Directors,
on March 16, June 16, Sept. 16 and Dec. 16, 2004.
