Start Service
Please complete the "New Duke Energy Customer Request" form below to start service at a new or existing residential location. If you are moving from one residence in the Duke Energy service area to another, please complete the "Existing Duke Energy Customer Request."
We will make every effort to activate your service as quickly as possible. Our service personnel are available Monday – Friday; except major holidays.
Please allow at least two business days to complete your request.
New Duke Energy Customer Request
Use this request if you have never received a bill from us and need to apply for service.
Identity Verification
Protecting your personal identity is top priority at Duke Energy. To start service with Duke Energy, we must verify your identity. If we cannot verify your identity during the application process, you will be required to complete an Identity Verification Form. Please DO NOT submit this form until you have contacted Duke Energy to apply for service. You will be advised by a Duke Energy Representative if this form is required.
If the Identity Verification Form is required, it must be notarized. Please ask your Notary Public to use a faxable notary seal. Properly notarized forms should be faxed to the number on the Identity Verification Form. Once these forms are verified, an order will be issued to connect your service. After the form has been faxed to Duke Energy, you will need to mail the original notarized form to the address provided on the form within 10 business days. If the original form is not received within 10 business days, the account will be subject to be disconnected.
Existing Duke Energy Customer Request
Use this request if you are a current or former Duke Energy customer. If you are moving to another location served by Duke Energy, please remember to stop service at the location you’re moving from.
