EDI Billing and EFT Payment Powerful billing and payment options for your business

Managing your energy budget can be a challenge at times. Duke Energy’s expanded electronic billing and payment options with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) now offer greater flexibility and freedom to help your business simplify operations.
What is EDI?
EDI is the electronic exchange of business documents in a standardized format between business computer systems. Many companies are capable of EDI and use this option as a cost-effective way to exchange data and manage invoicing. EDI is designed and most effective for customers who have multiple accounts.
Key Benefits for Your Business
EDI offers several benefits by automating the billing and payment process with a secure electronic file exchange between your business and Duke Energy.
- Streamline your bill review, analysis and payment processes
- Reduce/eliminate data entry errors and increase productivity
- Integrate consumption data into an energy management system
- Increase speed and accuracy of information exchanged between companies
How Duke Energy EDI Works
EDI-820/Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is the preferred method of payment for EDI Billing.
Receive Bills Electronically with EDI Billing
Duke Energy’s billing information is converted to a standard format set by the ASC X 12 Finance Subcommittee. The service then allows Duke Energy to send billing information electronically to your business over a selected Value Added Network (VAN) to your company’s mailbox. VANs are third-party service providers that permit different business partners to communicate through a central clearing house.
Using the EDI translation software, you can automatically retrieve and process bills through your internal systems – as well as send consumption data to an energy management system. Because Duke Energy transmits your bill via EDI on the same day that your bill would typically be prepared, you have the information immediately.
If you have questions or if you are interested in receiving your bills electronically using EDI please contact summary@duke-energy.com.
