Bloomington EverGreen Village Project
EverGreen Village is a 12-unit subdivision being developed by the city of Bloomington, Indiana’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department. The subdivision, part of an affordable home ownership program, was built as a green-built, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design pilot. This community was designed with state-of-the-art environmental friendly systems, including 2-kilowatt solar panels for each home – making the homes very cost effective to operate. Duke Energy donated the solar panels as part of the company’s demand-side management program approved by the Indiana Utilities Commission. The project was completed in two phases -- beginning in 2006 with completion in 2008.
