Laws, Rules and Regulations Duke Energy's Code of Business Ethics

Duke Energy is subject to various external laws, rules and regulations. Violations of these rules expose Duke Energy and its employees to potential monetary penalties, loss of the ability to execute in the marketplace, reputation damage, loss of shareholder value and civil and criminal charges.

Our Responsibilities

Duke Energy employees are required to comply with the letter and intent of all applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to act with integrity to produce results that make the company profitable and respected.

Duke Energy employees must:

• Be aware of the laws, rules and regulations that affect your daily job responsibilities and understand how they apply to your work.
• Actively participate in training on applicable laws, rules and regulations.
• Ask questions and gain clarification on the impact of applicable rules prior to acting.

Additional leadership responsibilities:

• Research questions and issues on applicable laws and regulations and provide guidance to employees.
• Educate employees on the meaning of the applicable laws and regulations and their effect on work activities.
• Monitor work activities for ongoing compliance.
• Report any potential acts of non-compliance.
• Review the organization's compliance risk and the effectiveness of controls in place to mitigate that risk.
• Provide the proper incentives to ensure ongoing compliance and appropriate disciplinary measures for violations.
