Leadership Leadership Organizations Supported by Duke Energy

At Duke Energy, we understand the importance of strong leadership. That’s why our commitment to communities starts at the top. We support carefully selected leadership organizations that focus on developing leaders for charitable organizations.

The Lee Institute, Charlotte, NC
For nearly three decades, the Charlotte region benefited from the vision and leadership of Bill Lee, former CEO of Duke Power. Created to honor his memory, The Lee Institute’s vision is, “To be the premier resource for developing leaders who use their influence to build stronger, more vital communities around the world.”

American Leadership Forum (ALF)
ALF prepares key leaders across all sectors to collaborate and develop a national network of leaders who accept responsibility for communities’ and the nation’s shared concerns. The ALF/Charlotte Chapter, operated by The Lee Institute, is dedicated to bringing together leaders from various sectors to develop their leadership skills, to increase their leadership capacity and to strengthen their commitment to work together on public issues. Because of Duke Energy’s civic leadership, the Charlotte Chapter of the American Leadership Forum is dedicated to Duke Energy through 2010. Duke Energy also works with ALF’s chapter in Houston.

Leadership North Carolina, Raleigh, NC
The mission of the Leadership North Carolina Program is to inform, develop and engage committed leaders by broadening their understanding of and involvement in issues and opportunities facing our state. Participants learn about the critical issues in these areas through discussions with top officials of the state, professionals in the areas, field trips and experiential activities. The program cultivates a network of citizens with diverse backgrounds and experiences who represent the many geographic areas of the State and who are committed to volunteer service.
