Intercession City to Gifford N
The new transmission line will be approximately 13 miles long. The line will be on self-supporting concrete or steel poles between 105 and 115 feet tall, approximately 600-700 apart. The poles may be higher when crossing roads, water or existing utilities. The work is being done in two segments. Construction of a four-mile segment from the Intercession City Substation to I-4 began in December and is scheduled for completion in June of 2013.
The final nine-mile segment of the line will be constructed primarily in the SR 429 road right of way from I-4 to the Gifford substation. Construction of the final segment will begin in April and is scheduled for completion in July.
This project is critical to ensuring additional power and continued reliability of the electric system for the greater Orlando area. Additionally, the new transmission line will harden the system and enhance reliability to homes, businesses and schools, preventing future potential outages.
Upon completion of the project, all construction material and debris will be removed and the easement will be restored as close as possible to its original condition. Some of the restoration may extend past the transmission line construction completion date of July. If special instructions are needed to access easements, or if you have questions about this project, please contact us toll-free at (877) 840-0101.
